President's Report
July 2010
Hi everyone,
I hope you are all finding some way to stay warm during these really cold months, remembering that we have passed our shortest day of the year and heading towards Spring - I am sure it can't come soon enough for most of us.
July also means the start of a new financial year and hopefully you have all organized your boss to include some training budget in their area for yourself. This will ensure you keep your skill levels to a standard to best meet your boss's requirements. I am certain some bosses don't realize that ensuring their EA/PA is at the top of their training skill level, will reflect on them really well as a manager.
For those who were lucky enough to attend our June forum, we were treated to an inspiring presentation by Donna McGeorge who was generously provided to AIOP by Preferred Training Networks. Donna inspired us all to look at our roles, and our boss in a new light and to get the most out of every situation.
I am also pleased to announce that AIOP Victoria has a new Vice-President, Linda Cook. Linda is currently the AIOP Web Manager and will retain this portfolio together with taking on the Vice President role. As President, I rely heavily on the entire AIOP Committee of Management team for assistance and support, and to have Linda in this pivotal role is an outstanding result.
Some would say it is a fortunate situation, that my role takes me out of my office quite regularly, so to know that Linda is AIOP Vice President, and able to stand in for me from time to time is a load off my shoulders. Thank you Linda, and the entire Victorian CoM for your on-going support.
News of our next forum will be sent to you shortly, but in the meantime please make sure you have Friday 27 August in your diary for the annual AIOP dinner.
Just a reminder to those wishing to apply for the Office Professional of the Year Award. You only have a matter of days left, as the closing date for applications is Friday 23 July. There are some wonderful prizes on offer from our AIOP partners, so I encourage you all to look at the website (under the Whats New tab) for more details.
Look forward to seeing you all soon.
Regards
Judith Fitzmaurice
